Mandarin Oil (Citrus reticulata) Mandarin Essential Oil

Mandarin essential oil is gentler than orange oil just like mandarin is less acidic than orange, this is why children love it so much. Also, naturopaths suggest that mandarin are an excellent source of vitamin C since they offer the same amount of vitamins as oranges do but with less acidity.

Wide use in perfumery due to its gentle, calming scent.

Scent: fresh, sweet citrus smell.

Extraction Method: cold pressed from the rind.

Colour: greenish orange.

Properties: light, refreshing, revitalizing.

Chakra: heart.

Caution: slightly phototoxic – Do not expose treated skin to the sun.

Blends well with: neroli and other citrus oils and nutmeg, cinnamon and clove and other spice oils.

Easy uses of mandarin oil

Cheer me up – 4 drops mandarin and sandalwood and 2 drops jasmine essential oils in the bath, massage oil or in the diffuser.

Mental energy – diffuse 3 drops mandarin and 3 drops lime essential oils.

Stretch marks – Mandarin, Lavender and neroli in apricot kernel oil, massage to the abdomen from the 5th  month of pregnancy until childbirth.

Spiritual mandarin

Encourages creativity and new ideas, brings a sense of easiness. Has a slight hypnotic quality that helps to concentrate in one thing, strengthens and helps to connect with the inner child. Also promotes restful sleep that is caused by to many thoughts.

Baths: add 5-8 drops to bath
Massages: add 2-3 drops of essential oils to 15 ml (1 tablespoonful) of carrier oil
Vaporisation: add 2-4 drops of essential oils to a burner or aromatherapy diffuser.
