Wintergreen Essential Oil (Gaultheria Procumbens)

Native American Indiand used Wintergreen to combat aches and chewed it to improve breathing. Early Americans chewed the roots to prevent tooth decay. Winteren in rich in methyl salicilate which is the active ingredient in aspirin.

Scent: Strong mint candy like.

Extraction Method: Steam distillation of the leaves.

Color: Pale yellow.

Properties: Wintergreen is very similar to Sweet Birch oil in chemical structure and aroma; likewise, both were used in traditional remedies. This tradition has led to the discovery of Methyl Salicylate and it’s painkiller properties. Wintergreen is used to relieve pains and pains and to assist breathing while lugging hefty loads.
