Sweet Orange Essential Oil (Citrus sinensis)

Orange is Native to China. No one knows for sure but it is believed to be brought to Europe by Arab or Portuguese traders in the First century. Nowadays, oranges are cultivated all over the world, including New Zealand. Orange oil is made from the orange peel.

Scent: characteristic sweet orange citrus odor.

Extraction Method: cold-pressed of the ripe orange peel.

Colour: yellowish orange to dark orange.

Properties: gentle, nurturing, sweet.

Chakra: Sacral.

Blends well with: lavender, neroli, lemon, clary sage, myrrh and spice oils such as nutmeg, cinnamon and clove.

Common uses of anise oil

Oily Skin (Use diluted): Astringent, Toning.
Muscle Relaxant (Use diluted): Ease cramps, Reduce the ache of muscles after exercise or injury.
Calming: Combine with lavender or neroli for a calming sleep blend (few drops on the pillow), Diffuse to help calm excited children.

Easy uses of orange essential oil

Anxiety – 4 drops orange and 2 drops myrtle essential oils in the diffuser.

Sadness – diffuse 2 drops rose and 4 drops sandalwood and orange essential oils.

Constipation – 5 drops orange and 3 drops neroli essential oils in a tablespoon of apricot oil, massage clockwise to your abdomen.

Relax children tantrum – Diffuse orange or drop one drop to the kid’s shirt.

Thieves oil

If you want to make yourself Thieves oil or at least something similar now you can:

Simply mix

2 parts rosemary oil

4 parts French lavender oil

3 parts lemon eucalyptus oil

3 parts peppermint oil

3 parts orange oil

3 parts clove oil

This mix is used for cleaning and disinfecting.

There’s a legend that says 4 French thieves long time ago have used this oil when stealing from the dead in order to not get sick. It is not clear if the story is true or made up by an essential oils company. Nice story anyway, helps you remember that this blend is antiseptic and good for cleaning.
