Oregano Essential Oil (Origanum vulgare) 10ml

It is believed that he antiseptic and antibacterial properties of Oregano oil were discovered already by the ancient greeks who used it for skin infections and for cleaning wounds. It was also used as a preservative for food.

The oregano plant grows in high mountains and the name means the mountains’ pleasure.

Contains thymol which is the main ingredient of thyme essential oil.

Scent – Sharp, Herbaceous, Camphoraceous.

Extraction Method – Steam Distillation of the leaves and flowers.

Colour – Pale Yellow.

Properties – anti-viral, anti-bacterial, anti-fungal, antioxidant and anti-alergan, expectorant, anti-inflammatory.

Chakra – Heart.

Caution – Generally safe, can cause rash for people with sensitivety.

Blends well with: rosemary, peppermint, eucalyptus, juniper berry, frankincense, tea tree, cedarwood, lavender.

Easy uses of oregano essential oil

Wet cough and respiratory problems – steam inhalation or massage oregano oil diluted in base oil to the chest. Expectorant, helps to clean the respiratory sustem from mucus.

Anti-inflammatory – Can be used on skin inflammation (diluted), can also be used in a massage oil fot arthritis to ease the pain.

Anti-fungal – Apply on fungal infections, start with diluted oregano oil and if there is no sensitivity you can lower the dilution and use the oregano oil almost pure. Any treatment of fungal infection has to be presistant and it’s best to continue applyong the oil for one month after it looks like the infection is gone. As an alternative one can use our anti-fungal balm.

Anti-viral – Oregano oil strenghens the immune system, good to put some drops in the diffuser for prevention in the winter or to protect everybody else in the home when someone is sick. Can be also used topically in the early stages of herpes.

Baths: add 5-8 drops to bath
Massages: add 2-3 drops of essential oils to 15 ml (1 tablespoonful) of carrier oil
Vaporisation: add 2-4 drops of essential oils to a burner or aromatherapy diffuser.
