Juniper Berry Essential Oil (Juniperus communis)
In mediaeval times juniper was added to food since it was said to aid digestion and to be a cure for various stomach ailments. The earliest recorded medicinal use of juniper berries occurs in ancient Egypt. A papyrus dating back to 1500 BC with a recipe to cure tapeworm. Also the Romans used the berries for stomach ailments.
